About

It was a regular rainy day around the Christmas holiday 2018.

My close friend came to New York from DC, visiting the Christmasy of everything and me.

She was grumpy until we found a small diner around Penn station for a mediocre omelet, in a great mood.

A phone call "caught" me. It was a call from my two bosses back then.

A thief and a clown make a great couple.

They were trying to convince me (their tone was so urgent and rude) I ask my dad as their investor to wire 800k in a short period. Just one week ago, I wired the first 800k to them to show good faith to a real estate project in Cambodia; I told them our contribution is clear so far. In my mind, my dad will only invest another 800k when the project is going well.

My head started spinning until I found my voice, "There is no deadline. We never talked about any certain period to wire you money."

I was shocked.

Based on MOU, I have no obligation on anything.

But what did I know at that time?

I had so many questions when I asked for help from my lawyer.

My therapist highly suggested that I should write something to detail my experience to clear my thought.

I want to say thank you to a few people who have listened and encouraged me.

Without them, I couldn't even start.

I have three storylines to describe what happened to me so far, and what I have learned in many ways. Even though the worst-case scenario happened to me, and my partnerships were partly to blame, I can't say that I had zero responsibility. My lack of knowledge and attraction to promised high returns made it easier to convince me to invest, ending poorly for me.

I am certainly not a great writer, but all I will and have to do is recording what I know to share with people.

Sincerely

It does matter
