For A Meaningful Life

Series of Horse: Accompanying | 2025

By Ajin (王家靖)

In this work from Ajin’s Series of Horses, Accompanying, two horses stand quietly within a dream-like landscape of misty blues and soft violet light. Their forms emerge from a forest rendered with vertical strokes—suggesting memory, time, and the blurred boundaries between presence and absence. The lone red horse and its pale companion echo each other in posture and stillness, evoking companionship without words, and the subtle ways beings stay connected even when separated by distance or emotion.

Ajin uses delicate layers of oil paint to create depth that feels almost musical: the forest becomes rhythm, the colors become breath, and the horses become the emotional anchors of the scene. This piece reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of solitude, tenderness, and the quiet power of simply being with another life. It is a meditation on presence—how even in a vast, cold world, companionship can appear as a warm, living color.
